PAST EVENTS:

Dear Community,

The Office of Black Student Achievement would like to invite you to our first Family Connection Event of 2021!

Please join us during the week of Monday, February 8-12, 2021, for an opportunity to connect with OBSA Kings and Queens and their families and the OBSA team.

All events are free and open to all!

Monday, February 8, 5:30-8:30 pm - Community Viewing and Conversation of the documentary Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Public Schools.

Pushout is a feature-length documentary, based on a book of the same name by Dr. Monique Morris, that takes a deep dive into the lives of Black girls and the practices, cultural beliefs, and policies that disrupt one of the most important factors in girls’ lives - education. Join us as we view the film together and then stay for a panel discussion and community conversation about the experiences of Black girls in public schools.

Whether reading together or listening, Story Time can allow you to temporarily escape your own world and become swept up in the imagined experiences of the characters. Join us in celebrating Black stories, Black voices, and Black authors.
